Tiramisu — The Classic from Treviso
The original recipe is surprisingly simple: mascarpone, eggs, sugar, espresso coffee and ladyfingers. Nothing more.
Ingredients (8 servings)
- 500 g mascarpone
- 4 eggs, separated | 100 g sugar
- 300 ml strong espresso, cooled
- 200 g ladyfingers | Cocoa for dusting
Instructions
- Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until a white, frothy mixture forms.
- Add the mascarpone, stir gently.
- Whip the egg whites into stiff peaks, add to the cream.
- Quickly dip the ladyfingers in the coffee (2–3 sec), arrange in a dish.
- Spread half of the cream. Another layer of ladyfingers. The remaining cream.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Dust with cocoa before serving.
